As things stand now, the Piclocs are advertised as Stabilizers for your camera gimbals.
Think of it as a Gimbal Management System, because that's what it will be doing soon.

All the features mentioned below in BOLD are firmware updates, planned and in the pipeline.
They may come during the dates mentioned below, on time, earlier, later, or never.

Features:

  • 6 servo Outputs ( Refresh rates from 50Hz - 400Hz TurboPWM) freely routed through a serv output matrix:
    - extra unised radio control channels can be routed by Picloc over the spare servo outputs. ( eg 1-2-3 for mount, 4-5-6 URBI, GentLED, retracts, etc) or
    - doubling up of servo outputs for more power, minimal backlash ( by trimming of the servo's centre a few 'uS' different from the other.... many more ideas you can think of.
  • 3 types of R/C input control :
    -5x individual r/c channels - for connection to any receiver;
    -1x PPM_SUM (eg JetiDuplex RMK-1, FrSky, PPMencoder, etc);
    -1x Spektrum Satellite receiver - compatible with all Spektrum radios DSM2 and DSM-X ( DX8) )
  • 3x MEMS Gyros, 3x MEMS Accelerometer, ARM CPU 32 bit processing. Sensors are fully digital ( ie.. No Analog to Digital conversion = better quality)
  • native JetiBox port for direct field programming/tuning - can even be done in real time wirelessly over a JetiDuplex 2.4GHz already present bi-directional telemetry link.
  • AutoPanorama mode for full 360 automatic shooting ( free upgrade with firmware - coming Q4 2011)
  • USB2.0 enabled Device - no need for dongles to upgrade or connect to PC. Just a mini USB B type connector ( like photo camera USB cable )
  • 3x MEMS Magnetometer for NO DRIFT in Pan axis
  • Internal Flash memory for logging of accurate camera angles and position - ( eg CGI integration, or GeoMapping ) ( free upgrade with firmware - coming late Q4 2011)
  • GPS Port - With this port, we can plug in an external GPS receiver, and we can log GeoPosition, point the camera to a specific target which is either moving (transmitting its GPS position over telemetry )  or stationary. ( free upgrade with firmware - Q4 2011) - needs additional hardware - GPS, Xbee datalinks which can be purchased from myself in the near future at the time of firmware release.
  • Telemetry Port -- Not specifically useful to the normal AP'er right now, unless for the point above, but certain specific clients ask me for it... and I also make it for a specific use ( for use in 'Picloc Follow Me' coming late Q4).
